Hello my friends, this thread will be my opinion on the matches and Promos of AEW (Dynamite/Rampage/Collision).

Feel free to leave comments agreeing or disagreeing with my assessment.

No AEW hating, you can critique as long as you give constructive criticism.

DYNAMITE 6/5/2024

Opening with MJF promo 3.7 stars (weak compared to what he is capable of)

MJF & RUSH ring confrontation 2.9 stars(Very classic fight and separation needed more umph)

Cassidy VS Rey Fenix VS Lethal VS Kyle O'reilly to qualify International Title 

3.3 stars good match and the right winner (Rey Fenix VS Will Osprey should be a banger)

Trent and Stalander continue to attack and betray Cassidy 

(3.6 stars good segment mainly because of Statlander heel work, good to add Willow seems like a mix tag in the works)

The Learning Tree arrives with the big Redwood and the Bad Apple

(3.8 stars Jericho as annoying as ever and Redwood and the Bad Apple looking like stars)

(Willow backstage promo 2.7 stars she needs to learn to be more angry)

Mark Briscoe VS Brian Cage to qualify for TNT title ladder match at Forbidden Door

(3.3 good match but Brian Cage needed the win)

Jack Perry the ScapeGoat Promo (2.8 needs more work still but not bad)

SAMOA Joe and Hook segment 

(Joe doing all the work 2.7 guess he is the real learning tree)

EVPs cutting the Acclaimed segment

(4.0 good heat and helping Acclaimed because they have fallen off)

Swerve Backstage promo 4.5 (Very impressive the best one he has done since becoming champ)

Mone Package showing how she has traveled and become even better in the ring (3.7)

BCC VS CMLL (2.5 piss break random action to squeeze in CMLL wrestlers good to give Yuta pin fall win)

Learning Tree at Catering Segment

(Love it he is teaching every one but doing everything wrong lol 3.8)

Garcia Package (weak he needs to have a tougher facial expression and stop the puppy dog face)

The Acclaimed confronts the EVPs backstage

Sarcastically tells them they are doing a great job while the EVPs are surrounded by security(3.2)

The Patriarchy asking for title shot favors from the EVPs and the EVPs stressed but seems the partnership will continue (3.7)

Mariah May VS Saraya (3.2) Good win for Saraya. Mina comes with the save for Mariah & Toni

Breast wrestling great segment (3.6)

Learning Tree inviting Private Party to TV time (3.0) Private party needs the TV time so I'm happy

Daniel Bryan backstage promo changing his mind about this being the last year and tired of losing wants a shot at the AEW by wining the Owen Heart Cup tournament (3.5)

Swerve VS Roderick for the AEW Title

(4.7) Great match like expected and loved Granny dancing with Swerve

Overall 3.8 show

The Bad

(Too many storylines in one show need to give a reason to watch Rampage and Collision)

The Good 

(many storylines and good match placement throughout the show)

Penta VS The Butcher 

(2.3 the match was weak and botchy; I feel like Butcher was phoning it in, I get it he is tired of losing but must stay professional)

Jericho Learning Tree Segment 

(2.8 could have been more entertaining but it was decent telling Mat Menard to not yell over other commentators EVEN though that's what he did the whole time is classic jericho)

The Acclaimed VS some enchancement talent (Hunter Grey and Parviz) 

(2.1 very weak squash match plus Caster's raps have been weak lately also)

Private Party VS Gates of Agony

(2.5 another weak match and Private party continues losing, I wonder if that will change once they become branches of the Learning Tree)

Timeless Toni Storm video Package for her match against Lady Frost

(3.0 Great as always and Toni Storm said "you don't want to see what I do with an icicle" - but I beg to differ)

Bang Bang Gang reunited with Juice Robinson

(1.8 worst part of the show. Juice looks in horrible shape, Jay White needs to learn to do Promos without yelling the whole time and in my opinion the Freebird rule is outdone and wack)

Mina VS Serena Deeb

(3.4 Good match Mina is talented and can't go wrong with Serena Deeb plus Mina is the cutest thing on God's Green earth)

Closing Mina, Mariah, Toni Storm Segment

(3.2 can't rate these women under 3 stars. This could go two ways either they form a stable after Forbidden Door or Mariah will betray Toni Storm and help Mina win)

Overall rating 2.8 (weakest Rampage in a while)

The Good- Toni Storm Videos Package and Mina VS Serena match

The Bad- Pretty much everything else was bad, very disappointed.

 So I'm chit chatting during Collision, and this week's topic popped into my head after making a comment.  Finishing moves (or wrestling move in general).  More specifically the names.  Some finishing moves have great, catchy names that relate to the wrestler and the gimmick.  The one that first popped into my head was the Honky Tonk Man's Shake, Rattle, and Roll.  Catchy. Relevant. Fits. Another one is the Sharpshooter used by one Bret "The Hitman" Hart.  Sharpshooter because he's a hitman, natch. Skull Crushing Finale.  Rock Bottom. Stone Cold Stunner. Rude Awakening.  Avalanche (even though I don't know what an avalanche has to do with King Kong, it's a great name for the move). The Jackhammer. The Money Shot. Spinaroonie. Claymore. OLD THREAD: Old school video games, board games, and general discussion

 So I decided to lump board games together with old school video games.  Why?  Why the fuck not.  When I mention "old school" video games, I'm talking old school.  As in Sega Genesis, original NES, Super NES, N64, Atari, ColecoVision, Intellivision, PS1.  PS2, tops. So many awesome games to discuss, like Super Mario. Duck Hunt. Bubble Bobble. Gauntlet. Tetris. Rampage. Pac Man. Donkey Kong. Asteroids. Dig Dug. Burgertime. Pitfall. Frogger. Qbert. Mappy. PGA Tour 96. Sonic. Mario Golf.  Just to name a few. Moving on to board games (for our more older heads), there are so many great games that have been played over the years and still are.  Monopoly, Sorry, Trouble, Trivial Pursuit, Chutes and Ladders, Scrabble. Checkers. Chess. Old Thread: The Heart of Rock and Roll

 The heart of rock and roll is still beatin'!  At least in this person's mind. I love listening to old school music.  Namely the 80s.  I listen to it pretty much on a daily basis.  I like me some 90s, too, and some 60s and 70s, and early 2000s.   After that I pretty much tuned out with the exception of a fad hit here and there (What Does the Fox Say, Gangnam Style), or a recently discovered band that surprised me that I wound up enjoying (Blue October, Alestorm). But my go to is the 80s.  Pop, hip hop, hair bands, even a bit of country from that era (such as Eddie Rabbitt).  I can cue up some 80s and it just elevates my mood. So, the theme of the week is music.  Drop the YouTube of a song in the room and tell the story (if there is one) of why it means something and/or how you came across it.   From the mainstream to obscure gems, discuss and share some of your favorite tunes!
