(Old Thread): NDAs and Hush Money (and any other general chat)

 

So.........   What are people's thoughts about the recent "trial" of former president Donald Trump, and NDAs in general (as in Vince McMahon's current legal situation)?

Let me be clear.  This isn't a question of if you dislike somebody or not.  That should not apply here.  What this question is about is the overall implications on the American political system, and society in general. 

Even if you're a raging liberal, you have to at least admit the timing of this is suspect.   And the trial itself was clearly not impartial.

Also, what about Vince McMahon's situation?  Should a person have to show both sides of the story before making life altering accusations such as that? 

It makes me think of the Trevor Bauer situation. Thankfully the woman has been prosecuted for her lies, but how many have not been?

Should women be held more accountable for these types of actions, namely their situations made as public and demonizing as their actions have made others'?  Should we be putting more focus and effort on ending this sort of thing, like society tries to do with "the patriarchy" and "toxic masculinity"?  Should toxic femininity be a new buzzword? 

Also......  If these women signed NDAs and/or received hush money, when they break those arrangements should they be legally responsible for repaying what they got, since they technically broke their agreement? 

I think so. I think these men who paid these women all this money to keep their relationships out of the public eye, yet were then exposed to the public, should start suing and countersuing for their money back.
