OLD THREAD: Recipes and, of course, any general discussion

So this is for our pillar Booker.  He requested a recipe thread, so I'm delivering.

Remember, this is just the general post thread.  Discuss anything else you want (within reason, of course).

Recipes are great to look at, try out, and share.  I've tried many throughout the years, from cookbooks, to Facebook posts, to ones from baking shows I've watched.  I've even come up with my own weird concoctions.

Two recipes I've made, for example, were a dreamsicle cheesecake and a Prinsesstårta that I saw made on the Great British Baking Show.  I made it for the family Christmas one year and it came out great.

I tweaked the recipe by using store bought marzipan (a mistake; had to buy multiple packages of it and heat it in the microwave to soften it enough to join them together and roll flat) and also adding vanilla extract to the whipped cream layer.

The dreamsicle cheesecake was also really good. I used a store bought Graham cracker crust, though. Didn't do the vanilla wafer thing.

I've also mucked about adding things to ramen - simple additions such as tuna or shredded chicken - or beans, cheese, and mayo.  Yes, mayo.  Sounded gross to me at first, too.

So what are some good recipes you've come across that you've tried?  Maybe you have disaster stories involving recipes you've tried?
