OLD THREAD: Concerts! And General Discussion

 Well it's time to talk about concerts.

Concerts are a great way to experience your favorite bands live. Or even check out local bands you might be curious about.

There are so many genres and venues that I couldn't possibly list them all.  But I'll start with going into some of my personal experiences.

My first "official" arena concert was the Ozzy Retirement Sucks tour.  I went to a couple before that when I was a kid, but they were family things at smaller venues. The Beach Boys twice (one of which I got on an amp and acted like I was surfing real quick which they got a kick out of.  Shoulda got a meet and greet for it).  Another was a Blessid Union of Souls concert at college, but that was also a small show.

Since then, I've seen everything from Wayne Newton (seriously) to Pam Tillis (bday gift for a gf at the time so I toughed it out), to Iron Maiden. 

I've seen Kiss, Kittie, ICP, Sevendust, King Diamond twice (Voodoo and Abigail 2015 tours; Exodus wasn't with King for Abigail, it was a band called Electric Citizen), Blue October, Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, Kenny Wayne Shephard, Dropkick Murphys, Bret Michaels, two or three Ozzfests (which included Manson, Sabbath reunion, SoaD, Drowning Pool, Rob Zombie and others), Fozzy, Coolio, ZZ Top 50th anniversary with Cheap Trick, the Hu, Gwar, and probably a few others I'm forgetting.

Some of my memorable moments were a signed CD and picture with Zombie, meeting most of Blue October and getting pictures, autographs and a set list, autographs from members of the Hu, talking to and getting a picture with and autograph from King guitarist Andy LaRocque, getting onstage at Dropkick Murphys and - almost - hanging with them at a bar afterwards (ran out of money. Should have went in, but was embarrassed. Got a ride with their road manager to the bar, though), getting soaked in Faygo courtesy of ICP, meeting Coolio, a CD signed by Union Underground, signed Drowning Pool poster (which I lost), and being drunk and chucking things back at the lawn section at Ozzfest when they threw things at the seating section and standing up and challenging the whole area to a fight.  😂😂😂

Oh. And I went to a Brooke Hogan country show just to wear my Roddy Piper Hot Rod t shirt, and had her point me out and mention me onstage and talked to and got an autograph from her after the show.  Lol

Old Thread: Favorite (and least favorite) finishing move names. And, of course, general discussion.

 So I'm chit chatting during Collision, and this week's topic popped into my head after making a comment.  Finishing moves (or wrestling move in general).  More specifically the names.  Some finishing moves have great, catchy names that relate to the wrestler and the gimmick.  The one that first popped into my head was the Honky Tonk Man's Shake, Rattle, and Roll.  Catchy. Relevant. Fits. Another one is the Sharpshooter used by one Bret "The Hitman" Hart.  Sharpshooter because he's a hitman, natch. Skull Crushing Finale.  Rock Bottom. Stone Cold Stunner. Rude Awakening.  Avalanche (even though I don't know what an avalanche has to do with King Kong, it's a great name for the move). The Jackhammer. The Money Shot. Spinaroonie. Claymore. OLD THREAD: Old school video games, board games, and general discussion

 So I decided to lump board games together with old school video games.  Why?  Why the fuck not.  When I mention "old school" video games, I'm talking old school.  As in Sega Genesis, original NES, Super NES, N64, Atari, ColecoVision, Intellivision, PS1.  PS2, tops. So many awesome games to discuss, like Super Mario. Duck Hunt. Bubble Bobble. Gauntlet. Tetris. Rampage. Pac Man. Donkey Kong. Asteroids. Dig Dug. Burgertime. Pitfall. Frogger. Qbert. Mappy. PGA Tour 96. Sonic. Mario Golf.  Just to name a few. Moving on to board games (for our more older heads), there are so many great games that have been played over the years and still are.  Monopoly, Sorry, Trouble, Trivial Pursuit, Chutes and Ladders, Scrabble. Checkers. Chess. Old Thread: The Heart of Rock and Roll

 The heart of rock and roll is still beatin'!  At least in this person's mind. I love listening to old school music.  Namely the 80s.  I listen to it pretty much on a daily basis.  I like me some 90s, too, and some 60s and 70s, and early 2000s.   After that I pretty much tuned out with the exception of a fad hit here and there (What Does the Fox Say, Gangnam Style), or a recently discovered band that surprised me that I wound up enjoying (Blue October, Alestorm). But my go to is the 80s.  Pop, hip hop, hair bands, even a bit of country from that era (such as Eddie Rabbitt).  I can cue up some 80s and it just elevates my mood. So, the theme of the week is music.  Drop the YouTube of a song in the room and tell the story (if there is one) of why it means something and/or how you came across it.   From the mainstream to obscure gems, discuss and share some of your favorite tunes!
