OLD THREAD: Christmas Movies and General Discussion

Well, it's that time of year, so we're going to start the season off right with a Christmas movie thread.

Christmas movies are a seasonal staple.  For as long as one can remember, the television fills up with holiday movies, and more keep being made year after year.

We'll start with the Rankin-Bass classics such as Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, the Year Without a Santa Claus, Cricket on the Hearth, the Little Drummer Boy, and Jack Frost.

From there you have your classic family Christmas movies such as A Miracle on 34th Street, A Christmas Story, It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol, White Christmas, a Charlie Brown Christmas, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  I'm not much of a fan of Wonderful Life or Xmas Story, but I do like Miracle on 34th.

Next you have your more modern classic contributions, such as Elf, Home Alone (and Home Alone 2), The Nightmare Before Christmas (doubles as a Halloween movie!), Scrooged, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, The Santa Clause, Jingle All the Way, the Snowman, Christmas with The Kranks, Gremlins, Prancer, The Polar Express, Ernest Saves Christmas, and Surviving Christmas.

Now we're on to the more adult fare on our list. This category is reserved for movies like Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Trading Places, the Ref, Violent Night, Fatman, A Christmas Horror Story, Bad Santa, Krampus, Friday After Next, Black Christmas/X-mas, Office Christmas Party, A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas, and Silent Night, Deadly Night.

I'll even add some outliers. Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale, Jack Frost (of the mutant killer snowman variety), the Holdovers, Snow Day, Reindeer Games, the Munsters' Scary Little Christmas, and even - according to the interwebs - In Bruges and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (read about a couple of these recommendations online, can't wait to try em out). Update: I did watch the Holdovers and it was a nice, heartwarming little film. I recommend checking it out.

So which movies do you make a point to watch during the Christmas season? Are there any more obscure movies that you've found along the way? Discuss this, and all other general discussion of course, in this here thread (except trying to argue Die Hard and Lethal Weapon aren't Christmas movies. They are. End of discussion).
