OLD THREAD: Technology. And General Discussion
So I figured the new topic could be a general one on technology. It came to me as I'm thinking about what overhyped bullshit 5G has been.
Anywho..... Whether it's televisions, cell phones, computers, access to music, streaming, weapons, AI, transportation, whatever the case may be, it's all fair game here.
Technology has really surged over the course of the last few decades. Some of it has had a detrimental effect, whether intentional or not, and some has afforded humankind with some amazing, beneficial advancements.
Being an entertainment buff, a few things I'm really glad I got to experience are the awesome tvs we have today. To put it in perspective, I started out as a kid with barely two channels, watching shows on a little, red, 13 inch black and white tv with a dial knob channel changer with the built in extendable antenna.
(I know the tv in the pic isn't red, but it was the closest I could find to what I had. So, as Shawn and Gus would say...... suuuuuck iiiiit).
The eventual upgrade to color tv was great, and the eventual emergence of VHS was equally awesome. And now I have a 55 inch, hi def, flat screen (not to mention a Blu-ray player, Firestick, Roku, and various external hard drives). If you never lived through the former situation, you may take for granted what is some truly astounding technological growth.
It's also quite amazing to go from rotary phones to push button phones (and also pay phones and pagers and address books/memorizing numbers) to basic cell phones to basically having a computer in your hand that also makes phone calls. Pretty wild to think about that progression.
But since I've droned on about that so much, I'm not gonna write anymore since I don't want to make it a chore to get to the comments. So I won't.
Discuss the many different ways technology has advanced, as well as our usual all over the place general topics and whatever floats your boat.
