OLD THREAD: Autobiographies and General Discussion

Image
So the theme I'm going with today is autobiographies.  Pretty self explanatory. The reason I like autobiographies is because you get a person's stories, perspectives, and experiences in their own words.  Unlike a biography, where a person who knew (or researched) a person gives their outside perspective.  For me, I like any kind of autobiography, but I'm partial to pro rassler's autobiographies.  A lot of them have had very interesting journies, encompassing experiences in many different parts of the world. I've read quite a few, and own a lot more - some of which I haven't read yet.  Mick Foley's books, some of Jericho's, Bret Hart's, Harley Race's, a Flair, a Hogan, Roddy Piper, the Bucks, Dutch Mantell, the list goes on.  I have a lot of them, from the famous to the obscure.  The most recent one I've been reading, and am almost done with, is Jerome Young's/New Jack's. It's actually a really compelling read (obviously because o...

OLD THREAD: Hobbies/Interests and General Discussion

Image
I'll be totally transparent.  I didn't know wtf to write a new thread about and this just popped into my head. Hell, I might've already used it but I'm not going back to look. But I think it's a good one, because some peeps may have hobbies or interests we haven't heard about yet. I mean, there are so many hobbies people get into to find a little joy in this fucked up world we live in.  Music (listening, playing instruments, going to concerts), hiking, gardening, surfing, banzai trees, bar hopping, crafting, animal rescue, local community events, skydiving, the list is endless. I lean more to the recreational side of things. I like thrift stores, collectibles, reading, shooting pool, concerts, rasslin events, board games, bar hopping at times, etc.  I also like a good trip to the beach and, when I can, deep sea fishing on a charter boat, to name a few.  But different people in different places can like many different things. For instance, our own Pi$$maker is a...

OLD THREAD: Favorite Rasslin' Matches and General Discussion

Image
It's been a good while since we've done a rasslin' topic here, so I'm gonna correct that mistake by asking what people's favorite matches are.  (And don't worry, if you're not a rasslin' fan, you can just talk about what you normally talk about).  Me, personally, a lot of my favorite stuff was back in the Golden Era of the mid 80s to early 90s.  Hogan/Warrior, Bret Hart/almost anybody (but Bret/Perfect, Bret/Austin, Bret/Davey Boy, Bret/Owen, and Bret/Piper were stand outs), Savage/Steamboat, the Tito Santana/Greg Valentine feud, and Ax and Smash starting out the 1989 Royal Rumble against each other are some of my favorites. I was also a sucker for any RVD/Jerry Lynn meeting in ECW (minus Bill Alfonso's stupid ass, annoying whistle. I couldn't stand that guy and always wanted to shove that stupid whistle down his throat. And no, it wasn't "good heat" it was fuck off, you're ruining the match heat).  More recently, I liked the F...

OLD THREAD: Your Happy Music and General Discussion

Image
So Jae gave me an idea for another music thread.  I know we've had music threads before, but this is a little different.  Music that makes you happy. Sure, you may have favorite songs that get you psyched at the gym, or ones that give you an adrenaline rush, or vent your anger in frustrating situations, or tug on your heart strings, or set the mood with a significant other or sexual partner, or even relax and mellow you out.  But those aren't quite the same as what this topic is about. Maybe you're having a rough day and need a pick me up, a smile, a more positive vibe or mindset.  Or maybe you're just numb from scrolling social media and seeing all the political bickering and want an escape to lighten your mood. For me, a few of them are Vacation - the Go-Gos, P.A.R.T.Y. - Alestorm, Tarzan Boy - Baltimora (and yes, this was long before Jack Perry used it), Just Like Heaven - the Cure, I Hope You're Happy - Blue October, Holding Out for a Hero - Bonnie Tyler, W...

OLD THREAD: Alcohol! And General Discussion

Image
So this week we're gonna have a more lighthearted topic......   Good ole alcohol. I won't be getting into the different types, brands, etc. because......... THAT'S WHAT THE COMMENT SECTION IS FOR, HOT DAMMIT!  Moving on.....  Alcohol can be negative, sure, but it can also be a positive thing.  Social interaction, building friendships, and just general good natured fun can be had with alcohol involved. The main staples include beer, liquor, and wine, which we'll discuss here in the post. A nice, cold beer is a good way to enjoy alcohol.  Whether it be at home (or the stadium) enjoying a favorite sporting event, at a concert, a backyard cookout, whatever the case may be.  It's also the least expensive drink at the bar, which means if you're low on funds you can still enjoy a night out. It may leave you feeling bloated if you drink too much of it, and it'll definitely go to your waistline in your older years if you're not careful, but it's definitel...

OLD THREAD: Current Political Climate and General Discussion

Image
So I figured this week we could look at the current political landscape, because there are a lot of historic events going on, regardless of your political leanings. A guy who was practically politically assassinated (and who had people literally attempt to assassinate him) was unanimously voted in for a second term, winning both the electoral and popular vote against an administration and party that could only be described as a dumpster fire. Since he took office, he's gotten tough on illegal immigration, appointed a task force to look into wasteful government spending, has tried to stop biological men from competing in women's sports, and a number of other things. And this is a mere two months into his term. No matter how you feel about the guy or what he's doing, this is going to be looked at as a historic term - whether positively or negatively.  The Democrats/liberals are in attack and panic mode, and the extremists are literally sterilizing themselves, posting meltdow...

OLD THREAD: Sequels Better Than the Original and General Discussion

Image
Thanks to our mate Cam, we've got our new week's thread.  Sequels that were better than the originals. I admit, I went online to look this topic up, but after I did and saw some of the choices, I realized afterwards it wasn't as difficult of a subject to address as I originally thought and they made sense. Some of the movies listed were The Dark Knight, The Godfather Part II, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Dune: Part Two, Thor:Ragnarok, Logan, Spider-Man 2, Empire Strikes Back, Aliens, Lethal Weapon 2, and Terminator 2. While I think Lethal Weapon 2 and Empire can be debatable (Return of the Jedi, imo, was the best of the original three), I can agree with the others.  The Dark Knight and Terminator 2 definitely were and are pretty obvious. I wasn't a big Terminator fan, but even not being a fan I could easily tell.  Thor:Ragnarok compared to the first two was definitely more fun. Logan was much better than the other solo Wolverine movies before it. I definitely agr...
